Musical Mob

I was somewhere out of the ordinary, somewhere foreign (which makes sense since I had this dream while I was in Chile). I was the number two person in charge of some kind of event. A huge event that drew thousands and thousands of people. And I was basically alone. Like they say, it's lonely at the top. Well, it became evident that the crowd was getting restless. Worse than that, they were starting to get riled up. They were rabble-rousing, if you will. Whoever I was working for came to me, frantically, telling me we had to figure out a way to keep the crowd happy or else they would start to be violent and destructive. Apparently my superior had no ideas because he made it evident that the responsibility fell on me.
My solution? Get the crowd singing. I didn't even have to think about it. I was standing on the side of a mountain, and the crowd was gathered in the valley, and I started directing them in a song.
And the weird thing is, the crowd was into the song. They joined right in, singing in perfect harmony, knowing all the words without even discussing which song we were going to sing. All of a sudden 3,000 people were singing, and it was majestic.
The REALLY weird thing is they were singing......."When Moses was in Egypt land/Let my people go!" They were singing it slowly and with as much melancholy as they could muster. No one was off key, and all of the chord was being sung. And, as if we had rehearsed for months, everyone stopped singing, except for the basses, when we got to "LET MY PEOPLE GO!" It was low and rumbly as a thousand men sang in the valley.
And the crowd was calm and my boss was happy.
And then I woke up. Well, more realistically, then I stopped REM and entered another sleep cycle.

Death by Avalanche

I was on a mountain with Chris and Emily and somehow I was able to see this other guy somewhere farther up the mountain who started an avalanche as a part of an experiment, not knowing that there were people on the mountain. The avalanche came down and I saw it coming and that I couldn't outrun it so I put myself facedown in the snow before it hit so I would know which way was down and then it came and covered us and I put my hands behind my back clear snow out to give me room and turned around and realized I was only covered with like 6 inches of snow so I got out and so did the others. Then it happened again and I tried the same thing but this time I there was lots of snow and I tried to do the face down thing again but there was too much snow and it made me roll around before I stopped, covered in what I assume was a whole lot of snow this time because I remember it being very heavy on my back. I thought to myself that I should try to start digging my way out but there is no way to know which way was up and which way was down. So then I thought I would just dig myself a tiny place and then drop something and the gravity would tell me which way was down (I think I learned that from McGyver). But before I could do that I realized I must be facing the ground because the snow was heavy on my back and well... same concept. So I was starting to struggle with breathing by this time and I tried to put my hands behind my back to clear out a space so I could turn around but there was too much snow and it was packed down too tight and it was just too heavy on my back. I really couldn't take deep breaths now and I stopped moving for a second and realized I was going to die soon. Then I took my last breath and I knew it was my last one. That was it.
Then I woke up and took the liberty of breathing deeply for a little bit.
Now Mom thinks I have sleep apnea.

trivial pursuit egypt

I had a dream last night... remember 2001: A Space Odyssey? Remember the horrible period of time close to the end where you're just looking at space for like a half hour then the dude is in some crazy room and you watch him age? Ok well I was in that room but I didn't feel weird or anything. I was talking to Pastor Dave. We were discussing something about the church and I was moving pieces of drywall. Then all of a sudden I was on a pirate ship with my friends and we were playing trivial pursuit but the version was all questions about Egypt and all of the cards were written in hieroglyphics. That's all I remember. I don't even remember winning or losing.
